We at ZC believe that the onus of responsible design lies with the architect. this is becoming increasingly difficult given the diminishing environmental resource base that we have to work with.
Secondly, whether people are fully conscious or not, they actually derive countenance and sustenance from the “atmosphere” of the things they live in or with. it is becoming an extension of their personal identity, a means of projecting who they are and what they stand for. the mass society that was characterized by a universal consumption standard has evolved into a heterogeneous society of the multitude.
Therefore, we need to extend the boundaries of existing architectural philosophy to develop a unique design that allows us to maximize space utilization, create integrated spaces, conserve limited natural resources and encourage a community feel. we encourage our team to experiment with spatial dynamics that create project ideas that are practical, sensible and new. the responsibility of marrying art, architecture and eco-conservation is not something we can do alone; we need clients who share the same ideologies. together, we can make a difference…
ZC is a professionally run Architectural Practice that was run as a Partnership Firm from 1995 to 2016. It was headed by Late Ar. Itty Zachariah, the Principal Architect of the Firm who had over 45 years experience in the field of Architecture, along with Ar. Abhay Itty Zachariah. Since 2016, Zachariah Consultants has continued the Practice as a Proprietorship Concern under Ar. Abhay Itty Zachariah.

Itty Zachariah was the Senior Partner and Principal in charge at Zachariah Consultants (ZC). He has 50 years of experience working on variety of project types and has led multidisciplinary teams on several high-profile projects in South India. As a designer, Mr. Zachariah is known for his ability to successfully combine Architectural and Urban Design expertise, bridging the gap between buildings and the urban realm in order to create holistic built environments. Mr. Zachariah has served on the Governing Council of the National Institute of Design, Ahmadabad and on the BATF (Bangalore Agenda Task Force), advising the Government of Karnataka on Infrastructural Developments. He has also served as the past Vice President of the India Institute of Architects, Karnataka Chapter. He was a Member of the Board of Studies in Architecture at Bangalore University, UVCE & also at R V College of Engineering, Bangalore.
Itty Zachariah did his basic training with Architects Combine under Prof. Raja Poradi and Partners. After Graduation, Ar Itty Zachariah worked with one of the leading firms in Bombay. Post which he moved to Pune and established a practice in partnership for a period of two years. Later shifted to Bangalore in 1967 and set a practice and subsequently grew as a partnership firm.
As a designer, Ar. Zachariah is known for his ability to successfully combine Architectural and Urban Design expertise, bridging the gap between buildings and the urban realm in order to create holistic built environments. He is a Fellow Member of Indian Institute of Architecture and also a Member of the Council of Architecture.

Abhay is one of the founding Partner’s and currently the Principal Architect at Zachariah Consultants (ZC). With Close to Twenty-Two years of experience in architecture and real estate developments, he brings a keen understanding of the design and development of mixed-use, commercial, retail, housing and hospitality projects. Forward-thinking, he has significantly developed his professional skills to be a cutting-edge design leader in the industry, as he utilises his knowledge and creativity at every stage of the projects. As a Designer, his focus has been on creating projects that have a strong identity and presence without compromising on the overall efficiency. Abhay holds a Master of Science Degree in Advanced Architecture Design from Columbia University, New York and has extensive local and international experience prior to joining ZC. He worked with Rahul Mehrotra Associates in Mumbai and with HOK at the New York office- where he developed a broad range of expertise working with dynamic teams.
